Young Adult Carer and Young Carer posters
A set of free posters to raise awareness about the challenges faced by young adult carers who are caring and learning, for learning providers and support services.
There are over 310,000 known young adult carers in the UK aged 16 – 25, typically caring for one or more family members – either a parent, sibling or other relation – whilst trying to access, stay on and successfully complete a college or university course.
Caring and learning at the same time brings many challenges. These posters were designed by young adult carers working with us to raise awareness about the range of caring responsibilities they have, the challenges they bring, how they can impact on learning at college or university, and to encourage learning providers to put effective support in place.
The posters can be displayed in FE colleges, other learning institutions and by carers’ support services. Each poster has a space for contact details of a designated member of staff who can support young adult carers with their learning.
We have some sets of posters to give away. To receive a set, email Sue Charlish with full delivery details, otherwise please download a PDF version below. For further information about our work with young adult carers, contact Nicola Aylward, Head of Learning for Young People.
Following feedback from some providers, we have produced the juggling poster for young carers too. This new poster is now downloadable below:
