Call for nominations and events for VQ Day

28 January 2015

The eighth annual VQ Day from the Edge Foundation – a key partner of the Festival of Learning – has launched with a call for nominations and events today, alongside research illustrating how many people underestimate the potential earnings of vocational occupations.

VQ Day – held on 10th June 2015, as part of the Festival of Learning – celebrates technical, practical and vocational learning and achievement. Last year, hundreds of colleges, schools, learning providers and employers got involved by hosting events.

Tom Stannard, Deputy Chief Executive of NIACE, said:

“The Edge Foundation and VQ Day are vital partners in our work promoting lifelong learning. They help young people and adults to see vocational learning and training as key to their personal and career development goals.

“VQ Day is a great celebration of the best of practical, technical and vocational learning, which are all essential for our future economic and social prosperity. We are delighted to have VQ Day – alongside many other high profile events and organisations – as part of the Festival of Learning. These events will show potential learners how a vocational route can be equally as effective as academic learning and set them on the way to sustainable careers.”
