Report published on evaluation of progress on the FE reforms

11 November 2013

BIS recently published an evaluation of progress on the FE reforms announced in New Challenges, New Chances.  It reports that:

  • most Community Learning (CL) providers have plans for targeting disadvantaged groups;  97% see low-waged, low-skilled, unemployed people as priority groups;
  • 68% of CL providers already worked with volunteers and 57% used shared services, a much higher proportion than the sector as a whole;
  • two-fifths (43%) already put all additional income or savings into community learning.
